Newcomerstown High School cheerleaders and Ridgewood High School cheerleaders are currently taking orders for the Orange & Black Rivals attire, with the logo as shown above. All items are available in either orange or black, and all orders and money are due by October 15th. The items available and the prices of each are as follows:
A. T-shirt - $12.00
B. Long-sleeved T-shirt - $15.00
C. Crew neck sweatshirt - $20.00
D. Hooded sweatshirt - $25.00
Please contact any NHS or RHS cheerleader to place your order, or you may stop in Newcomerstown Middle School to leave your order and money for Mrs. Donna Yoder (NHS Cheerleading Advisor).

The Newcomerstown High School volleyball team will host the annual "Volley for a Cure" game on Monday, October 12. Everyone is invited to attend the game and support the fight against cancer. A portion of the usual admission price will be donated to the cause.
The volleyball team is also conducting a "Change for a Cure" fund drive. Every home room at West School and the Middle School will have a tub to collect change all next week (October 5-9). The home room at each of these schools that collects the most change (by weight) will win a pizza party hosted by the team. Please support "Change for a Cure."
There are also strips of paper that students/classes can decorate. These strips will be used to make a chain around the gym at the "Volley for a Cure" game on October 12. We look forward to seeing everybody there!

Parent access to view student progress for AR (Accelerated Reader) is changing. Parents who have requested accounts in the past are still able to access information the old way, but Renaissance Learning is phasing out the old parent accounts and using the new program Home Connect.

There will be a parent meeting at Newcomerstown Middle School on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at 6:30 P.M. to discuss the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.

Newcomerstown's annual district-wide staff meeting to kick off the new school year was held Monday, August 24, 2009, and the awards portion began with a standing ovation for Judy West. Judy was presented a plaque by Superintendent Jeff Staggs, for being chosen as the Eastern Regional Driver of the Year, after she had been nominated for this honor by a fellow staff member. This is the first time that a Newcomerstown employee has received this award, and West, who is beginning her 36th year of driving bus for our district, is well-deserving. If asked, Judy West would tell you that she enjoys her job and loves the kids, and it certainly shows. CONGRATULATIONS, JUDY WEST, EASTERN REGIONAL DRIVER OF THE YEAR!
