Newcomerstown, OH – The Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District is proud to announce that the Board of Education has officially approved the appointment of Dirk Gadd as the district’s new Athletic Director. Mr. Gadd will assume his duties immediately while continuing to serve as the Assistant Principal of Newcomerstown High School.
This appointment follows the initial announcement in June and formalizes Mr. Gadd's leadership role within the district's athletic programs. As a Newcomerstown native and a 1998 graduate of NHS, Mr. Gadd brings a deep-rooted passion and commitment to the community. He has served the district for eight years as Assistant Principal and has been the head varsity football coach, where he has been credited with revitalizing the program. Under his guidance, the Trojans have achieved three consecutive OHSAA playoff appearances, two postseason wins, and an IVC North Championship.
Superintendent Jason Peoples stated, "Dirk’s dedication to our students and his proven track record of success make him the ideal leader for our athletic department. We are excited for him to bring his passion and vision to all of our sports programs, fostering a culture of excellence and pride that will benefit our student-athletes and the entire community."
Mr. Gadd's extensive experience as a coach and administrator, combined with his background as a former NHS football and basketball player and a college football player at Muskingum University, gives him a comprehensive understanding of the needs of student-athletes.
Mr. Gadd, who resides in Newcomerstown with his wife, Lydia, is eager to begin his new role and looks forward to supporting all of the district's athletic teams.
