January Student of the Month - 2nd grade
Mrs. Hayes has chosen Edwin Lopez Hernandez for the student of the month for 2nd grade! Edwin is a top notch kid! He has the biggest and kindest heart. He is always the first to ask if I need anything done, first to help a friend, or first to do a job, like pick up paper towels off the bathroom floor. Edwin just always wants to do the right thing. He has worked so hard on his academics. He has started reading an AR book each night and became a Goal Buster this last nine weeks. I know that Edwin will do great things in his future. I can't wait to see what all he accomplishes.

January Student of the Month - Miss Lefler
"Sometimes all it takes is a smile to make everything feel better." Miss Lefler's student of the month exemplifies this. He has a smile that lights up any room he is in. He shares a gentle love and appreciation with everyone around him. In his short time at West Elementary, he has made it an even better place. That student is EJ Nichols. EJ comes to school every day ready to do his best. He is patient with those around him, and he tries his best at every task presented to him. EJ loves to be with his classmates and will often look for them when they are not near. We are so proud of EJ and all of his efforts to do his very best. He makes our classroom, school, and district better just by being himself. Keep up the great work, EJ!
