The NMS Girls' Basketball game scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, December 19th) at TCC has some changes. The 7th grade girls will only be playing 2 quarters. The 8th grade game will be starting earlier as a result, around 5:30-5:45. Just an FYI so parents and fans can plan accordingly. Our apologies for the late notice.
This message is for parents and students planning to attend 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip scheduled for May 27th-29th. Due to a lower-than-expected number of deposits and participants, we’ve made the following adjustments to the trip to maintain its affordability without increasing costs:
Removal of Medieval Times: This experience has been removed to offset the additional costs caused by low participation. We will work to provide a fun, cost-effective alternative.
Removal of Class Shirts: While trip-provided shirts are removed from the cost, we will explore options to provide shirts ourselves.
Removal of Arlington National Cemetery Tram: Although the tram is removed, we will still visit Arlington National Cemetery. This change aligns with how the trip was organized in past years.
We wanted to share these changes promptly to give families time to reconsider participation if necessary. If these adjustments impact your decision, please notify us by Wednesday at 8:00 AM to ensure a refund of your deposit.
Thank you for your understanding as we strive to provide a memorable trip while managing costs. If our confirmed participation increases, we may be able to readjust the itinerary.
NMS WINTER WONDERLAND DANCE
NMS staff and students are invited to participate in "Countdown to Christmas" dress up days on our last week of school before Christmas break. Here is the calendar, which is similar to West School's for that week, hopefully making it easier on parents.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, our NHS and NMSl winter sports athletes were introduced at Meet The Team. Goodluck to all of our Newcomerstown athletes, as their seasons begin! (Pictures are our NMS teams.)
Students have been busy in the NMS library! In addition to enjoying the wonderful world of books, students have been active in the art of puzzle building, having completed two this month alone. Congratulations to the students in the photos , who were the lucky ones to put the final pieces in their puzzles.

NMS Fall Portrait Retake Day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th, starting at 8:15AM. This is for any student who was not present on the initial picture day or anyone who needs a retake due to their photo not turning out correctly. Flyers are available in our office with more purchasing information.

Practices will begin Monday, November 18th, and will be held each Monday and Wednesday, beginning at 5:30 PM in the NMS Cafeteria, with coach Dustin Moore.

We moved the display this year to the corner of Goodrich and State Street, across from Chilly Willy's, hopefully making it easier to access. These items are FREE! Please, help yourself to scarves, hats, gloves, and/or some for each of your children! Know someone who would want or need one? Please... take one to them, if they are unable to get out currently. These are beautifully handmade with love, and YOURS for the taking. Don't be shy!! WARMING THE WORLD, ONE SCARF AT A TIME!

NMS 6th grade student Colton Durben participated in the Ohio Elks Association state soccer shoot in Norwalk, Ohio on Saturday, November 2, 2024, and he finished in 2nd place for the U14 age group! ⚽️ CONGRATULATIONS, COLTON!!!

On Monday, October 21, 2024, two NMS students graciously donated their family's 3D printer to our school (Ms. McVey's Gateway class, in particular). The printer is a Flashforge Adventurer 3. It is most commonly used in the home as an entry-level printer, to begin learning 3d printing. 3D printing is a fun way to produce creative work, and in Gateway class, students are able to use this amazing technology to make their imaginations come to life.
